Get an iPhone Device ID for Provisioning

GOOD: Grab ID from iTunes
A) Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer if it isn’t already connected
B) Launch iTunes
C) Click on the text “Serial Number:” in the “iPhone” section of the Summary tab.
D) The serial number will be replaced with the Identifier.
E) Open Grab (or any other screenshot utility) and capture the 40 digit Identifier.

BETTER: Copy a Device ID from Xcode
A) Open the Organizer from the Windows menu.
B) You will see the name of the device you connected in the left column of the Organizer and it will have a green circle to the right to indicate that it is connected to the computer – click on it.
C) You will see the 40 digit Identifier in the Summary tab and can select and copy it with your mouse.  

BEST: Get a .deviceids File for the Program Portal
A) Install the iPhone Configuration Utility if it is not already installed. [http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/]
B) Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer if it isn’t already connected
C) Launch the iPhone Configuration Utility
D) If your iPhone/iPod Touch is not automatically selected – click on it’s entry at the bottom of the left-hand column [NOTE: For multiple devices: select the "Devices" option in the Library and select the phones to export]
E) At the top of the screen, click on the “Export” button
F) In the save dialog box that opens, change the “Export type:” to “Device UDIDs”
